Santander and other people suggested to liberate Cuba and Puerto Rico. The idea died of due to the oposition of the USA until Bolivar decided to consolidate Gran Colombia. Finnally Gran Colombia was disolved by the Caudillism of Paez in Venezuela, Florez in Sur (Ecuador), the oposition of New Granadians to the dictatorship of Bolivar and the role of Britain. I'm not sure the date of the proposal for the liberation of Cuba and Puerto Rico, but it was probably between 1820 and 1824. The Chalenge is to hold Gran Colombia together at least to 1900, having an important role in the liberation of Cuba and Puerto Rico prior 1830. The PoD should not predate 1819, and extra bonus if Cuba and Puerto Rico remind part of Colombia. -- Carlos Th
